BMW RISE Cities Fellowship Mentoring and Support
Ecosystem Acceleration + Masterclasses
12 European Cities
The RISE Cities Fellowship Program is a network of responsible leaders and stakeholders committed to promoting sustainable urban transformation. It brings together city leaders from various backgrounds to catalyze positive change in their communities.
Together with GEHL, we supported the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt in their quest to find and mentor 24 responsible leaders in different cities in Europe, and curate an active network for transformative outcomes—providing guidance, facilitating connections, and granting them access to a pool of hundreds of other change-makers.
Context
RISE Cities set out to create a program that superchargers responsible leaders who pioneer solutions that change cities. The program consists of a series of mentoring sessions, in-person events, and access to RISE’s global network of responsible leaders.
Our Role
We partnered with GEHL in the selection of the most forward-thinking impact leaders and extended this support by providing coaching and mentoring sessions across the 4 program themes: equitability, resilience, sustainability, and intelligence.
Results
This process resulted in the nomination of 12 different initiatives (called ‘Tandems’), most taking place in mid-sized European Cities. All initiatives pair a duo of leaders from different backgrounds and cross-sectoral. The ‘Tandems’ comprise civil society actors, startup founders, or city officials who work together on a joint initiative.
